During this episode the Gilmore's go to the Harvard - Yale football game which was held at Yale on November 22, roughly the same time that the episode was aired. Yale lost that game 37-19.
Richard Gilmore sings the Yale Fight Song, "Bulldog" before the big Harvard-Yale game as all the other attendees in the quad join in. Emily then mentions to Lorelai and Rory that Cole Porter wrote the song. Cole Porter did, indeed, write the words and music to "Bulldog," Yale's official fight song. He was a 1913 graduate of Yale University.
When Lorelei and Jason enter the grocery store they walk by a large display of wine. Grocery stores in Connecticut are not permitted to sell wine.
