It takes Lorelai way too long to realize that she and Max aren't meant to be. However, I loved the red light storyline, Dean and Max bonding, and the end when Rory and Lor actually get stopped at the light.

Lorelei's mean spirited and ageist comments to Fran were disgusting. Rory shamefully did nothing to stop them. Shame on the writers as well as Lauren and Alexis for creating and participating in such hateful dialogue.
So she's not quirky, she's unhinged and needs Help.

Look...Lorali is always a tough pill. Constant quips make her seem unstable. It's not a sign of sanity to only be real when truly forced, but it's a tv show and Rory is fabulous.
I can't always handle lorali and am Very very aware of the writing and the Actress working hard.
Rory is a real person-writing and acting.
But this episode...pushed lorali waaaay over the edge. Two scenes before she dumps max, days before the wedding, she says to Rory, I really really like having max here. Then her mom, who's 99.99% mean and shallow Says she tried on her wedding dress every day the week before the wedding and lotali Dumps max.
Um...that's actually a cry for therapy. A lot of therapy, or it's a cry for the writers to take a vacation.
And then Lorali jumps in the car with Rory and takes Off for no where. It made me so thankful I had a sane stable mom! (Isn't rory in school??)
Didn't we just see many many many episodes about how lorali was afraid of upsetting max and commitment phobias for over a season because Rory would get hurt if the relationship ended, and then She ends it because she didn't try on her wedding dress constantly, after her psycho mom did?!?!
Haven't the writers set everything up to show us that whatever that mom does is dysfunctional? And she Can barely tolerate her husband and that This relationship loralis parents have is the last relationship anyone would ever want??
So now ....lorali decides to dump Max to do whatever Mom did?
It's nuts!!!
Now I'm just 110% annoyed with lorali and feeling Bad for max and rory. Now I'm analyzing this Harvard obsession and wondering How much therapy Rory will need once she gets away from her mom and how Many days after Rory goes to college, lorali is wearing a tin foil hat.
It went from quirky fun to the story about a disturbed girl and her Unfortunate daughter who may be ok?? Because at least she was loved and egrets good grades.
Man, writing a tv show Mimi at be very hard, apparently.
