Top notch episode by Stan Burns and Mike Marmer. Max, 99 and Fang go undercover at the CONTROL spy school where they have to find out which of the new recruits is actually a KAOS spy. 99 goes in as an instructor, Max as a trainee named Loomis and Fang as a dog named Morris. They have narrowed the suspects down to three: Peter Lorre lookalike Dimitri (Phillip Roth), strongman Grillak ("Rockford Files" and "Maverick" muscle man Leo Gordon) and Zukor (Henry Brandon who played the evil Barnaby in the Laurel and Hardy classic "Babes in Toyland"). The script is loaded with good gags (and classics like "And Loving it!")as Max tests out East Himalayan jokes on Dimitri, tries karate on Grillak (and goes flying into the pool) and uses a top secret carbon paper jacket to get a copy of Zukor's handwriting. There's a funny parody of the U.N.C.L.E. gun which Max has in a case and claims he can put together in seconds...only he can't open the case! Max also finds a very clever way to get Fang to save them as a candle slowly burns through a rope that will cause their death, then gets a brilliant "confront the suspects" scene at the end. 99 and Max are interrupted before they can kiss not once, but two different times. Soon after this, their relationship appears to cool off a bit as perhaps their characters decide to keep things professional, but 99 is obviously crazy for Max.
