Bernie Kopell returns as Smart's arch-nemesis Siegfried in a story where KAOS has been pirating cargo ships with submarines guided by a KAOS supercomputer. After Max and 99 blow up the computer they blunder on to Siegfried's KAOS sub instead of their rescue ship and have to try and defeat the KAOS mastermind before he shoots them out of a torpedo tube to their deaths.
Kopell is terrific as Siegfried and the script by Stan Burns and Mike Marmer give him and Adams plenty to work with. Adams gets to do some nice physical comedy trying to get on a hammock aboard a submarine, there's a nice place on "stupid, dumb, childish" tricks, some funny secret weapons and a nice battle between Max and Siegfried as 86 tries to talk the crew into mutiny while Siegfried gives them incentives to stay loyal (Max can't beat the fact the crew loves to dance). 99 and 86 even share a warm moment (though Max doesn't seem to notice) as 99 asks him if he has anything he'd like to say before they go on a suicide mission.
Good episode and seeing the stock footage from "The Enemy Below" made me want to check that fine movie out again too!
