Troy and Dillon's weapons are the sidearms from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979), not colonial warrior lasers.
The helmets for the Viper pilots have changed to a more rounded shape instead of a flat side and flat ledge of a chin guard of all previous episodes.
The Colonial Fleet is located in our solar system, yet far enough from Earth so that the Cylons are unable to locate its location. When the Cylons attack the Agro Ship, footage from Silent Running (1972) is used, just as it was in the original Battlestar Galactica (1978). The planet Saturn is briefly visible in the background in footage from this film, making it appear that the Colonial Fleet is hiding near the sixth planet in our Solar System.
An earlier draft of the script was titled "Harvest Home". This version did not nave any scenes with the Super Scouts on the farm, but opened with a sequence of them practicing with the Invisibility Shields aboard one of the Colonial ships when the Cylons attack the Agro ship. Instead of trying to convince everyone that Troy and Dillon are from outer space, Steadman feels enlightened by witnessing the Colonial ship and decides to remove the dam after seeing the error of his ways. Jamie does not appear, but Colonel Briggs does. He arrives at the farm after Troy and Dillon have already left.
