Having lived for a little while in the thirty first century Fry starts to wonder why people don't get excited about all the cool future-things around them; without stopping to thank that to them the twentieth century sounds exciting. Leela suggests that they should spend some time doing the things Fry always imagined doing in the future; like destroying a planet, going to the end of the universe, riding a dinosaur and finally dating a celebrity. In the final case he doesn't actually date a real celebrity; just a robot that has been programmed to look and act like one; in this case it has had the looks and personality of Lucy Liu installed. Fry quickly falls in love with his new robotic girlfriend; much to Bender's disgust. In an attempt to help Fry and others Leela, Bender and Zoidberg head to the offices of Nappster, the company he downloaded Lucy from, and make a shocking discovery; the company has kidnapped the celebrity heads and is offering the downloads illegally! They rescue the real Lucy Liu's head but find themselves pursued by an army of robotic Lucy Lius hell-bent of retrieving the head.
This episode started well; Fry's ideas of what to do proved entertaining; particularly his desire to ride a T-Rex... in a children's park! The downloading of Lucy Liu was entertaining enough but the joke about Nappster hasn't aged well; making jokes about events happening at the time a show is made always risks nobody getting them several years later; a mistake Futurama rarely made in its 'pre-cancelation' days. The old style public health film about the dangers of dating robots was funny precisely because it was mocking old fashioned films of this type. The story was entertaining and Lucy Liu made a good guest star providing the voice for both her own head and the various 'Lucy Liu Bots'. Overall it was a decent episode where the good jokes far outnumbered the one stale joke.
