Going Quackers
mitchrmp11 April 2014
This is another memorable episode for me. Stephanie comes home from school and tells Uncle Jesse and Joey all about her day, then let's it slip that she was punished. Jesse makes her tell the whole sordid story - about how she and her friends made fun of Walter by treating him like a duck. Jesse is very upset with her and makes her call Walter and apologize. But Walter mistakes her apology as something else. Things get a bit messy.

The side-story is too silly to really get into. Jesse is going to be on Danny's show, but they get into an argument on live television.

Naturally, the story of Walter are my favorite. Thus begins another supporting character on the show.

A Great Lesson On Bullying.
Movie-ManDan27 February 2018
There's so much good happening here. In order for something to be about bullying that's a comedy, there needs to be some humour while still maintaining the seriousness and hardship of the subject in hand. That is just what this does.

DJ must write a report about someone in her family. Observe them for one day and write about it. She chooses Michelle. A fun subplot. The other is Joey filling in for Becky on Wake Up, San Fransisco. Another fun subplot.

The main story starts with Stephanie coming home late from school. She had to serve after-school detention for picking on her classmate Walter F. Burman. Walter keeps pushing his lips out, leading his whole class to mercilessly tease him by calling him "duck face," quacking around him and throwing bread at him. Jesse was bullied as a kid for not being as smart as the other kids, so he knows what what its like being teased. He talks Stephanie into calling Walter and apologizing. Walter comes over and thinks Stephanie is his girlfriend. She doesn't have the heart to reject him so, she says she's his "secret girlfriend." When Stephanie's friends come over to do a science project and catch Walter with her, Stephanie gets the same treatment.

Walter is funny, but obviously the subject of bullying and karma are explored well here. One of the season's best!
