This is probably my favorite episode

Warning: Spoilers
This is probably my favorite episode for many reasons.

While it still maintains the wit and great dialog, it is also a more emotional episode. It deals with growing up, changing and trying to be who you are not.

Sam for example tried to be different, someone he is not and did not feel comfortable with just to impress a girl. and what happened? he was laughed at and Cindy remained unimpressed.

Lindsay on the other hand, had an accident and blamed her freaky friends. She tried to be the girl she used to be only to find out that she couldn't because it wasn't her anymore. I loved the last scene of the episode, not only does she care about her friends but they (especially Daniel and Kim) are also very fond of her.

One of my favorite scenes of the episode is when she insults them, it made them think about their future a little bit. Lindsay is a great influence, especially on Kim. And all of them showed up to support Linds during the mathlete thing.

I can relate to both Sam and Lindsay, heck, most people have tried to be someone else just to fit in. But it never works, not for me anyway.

Five stars. Very touching, very funny, very clever. I love this show.

"Hey, don't make fun of him. That's a Parisian nightsuit!"

It's easy to identify with both Weir siblings in this one, and both learn valuable lessons about who they are. For Sam, it's knowing that allure comes from the inside, not some (questionable) European fashion. And it's here where most of the episode's humor lies, benefiting from a Joel Hodgson appearance.

But Lindsay's story is the harder-hitting of the two, and this is where the acting really comes in. Case in point, a dinner scene after Lindsay wrecks the family station wagon. It's a terrifying reprimand because Joe Flaherty strikes just the right menacing tone without ever raising his voice. Also, her scenes with Millie, which seem to be the episode's anchor. Lindsay doesn't have much time for Millie anymore, but she's always there for Lindsay to fall back on.

In the end, this is another episode about navigating the treacherous waters of high school and finding one's place. Which is typical of the show in general, but this really seems maximize the funny and scary aspects of being a teen.

Looks and Books (#1.11)

Warning: Spoilers
After her friends convince her to steal her parents car and she gets into accident Lindsay wants to go back to who she was before, but this isn't her anymore. Sam tries to look better to impress Cindy. But this doesn't work so well either.

What a great story with Lindsay. It shows the teenage time as the one where one is confused about who one is. She feels that she is making mistakes and goes back to the safe life as mathlete she was before. But then she sees that it isn't who she is. And it is so sweet how her friends still came to support her. It shows they are real friends. It was also interesting how her words about their lives having no future hurt them, so well done.

Sam's story was just hilarious. Him walking through the halls in that disco jump suit was great. I was laughing, almost crying and yet I felt bad for this poor kid. His attempts to escape school were also greatly done. Just like his friends covering him while walking him to the exit but then going away right after the bell because they had to go to a test.

Again and again this series still surprising me; great acting, great feelings, great emotional tight friendship relations and this episode is the best so far; I hope for more greatness in the upcoming episodes.
