Fantastic

There isn't a wasted line of dialogue. One of the greatest comedy episodes of all time. You don't need to know anything about the series; completely self-contained, and hilarious.

My favorite episode!

Warning: Spoilers
Seriously folks. If you haven't seen this episode and think yourself a 'Frasier' fan... You are sorely missing out! The hilarious antics of the Crane family and friends ensues when they set out to enjoy a ski lodge for a weekend. Joining the group is a hunky guide named Guy and Daphne's best friend (who's dumb, but a swimsuit model). And then a whole circle of lust starts happening... except one person gets left out. The hilarious lines from, "I'm not gay, Guy!" to "Enjoy your room!" make this episode a side-splitter even when you've seen it ten thousand times. Whenever this episode comes on, I never skip over the channel.

French farce on America's most British show!
nixskits29 December 2009
Along with "Beware Of Greeks" (also on the fifth season collection), I think this is the funniest of the many "Frasier" episodes. The Crane men, along with Daphne, her school friend Annie and ski instructor Guy, are having a side splitting time of missed cues and crushes once removed. To say this is funny is like saying Michael Jordan could slam dunk a ball. I was elated whenever this came on because it meant for at least half an hour, my troubles would be forgotten and I could marvel at how well "The Ski Lodge" holds up on repeat viewings. It's even better when one has seen it already, kind of like listening to a virtuoso on the level of Vladimir Horowitz playing a classical piano opus.

I've always felt "Frasier" was a very British in tone program and another actress gets to take the John "Marty Crane" Mahoney Mancunian accent test, as he was originally from Manchester and made sure Jane "Daphne" Leeves and now Cynthia "Annie" Lamontagne (best known as "Big Rhonda" on "That 70s Show") hit the right notes in their vocal performances. The upper crust flair of both "Frasier" and "Niles" makes many think they're gay and here, both of the boys are at their most heterosexual, with one wanting the woman who's only interested in the other. The farce works much better than in the screen adaptation of "Noises Off" and you don't have to pay to see this in a f$$king theatre.

For SEINFELD it was "The Contest:"

Warning: Spoilers
This episode, thanks to great dialog and the excellent sense of comic timing, had the hilarity of a French boulevard sex comedy. It's the best episode of the series.

James Patrick Stuart was a treat as Guy, the gorgeous French ski instructor whose sexuality is no doubt a big surprise to both Daphne and Niles while Martin, temporarily deaf from a major cold, hilariously misinterprets everyone's actions. Frasier, who sadly feels rejected, can take it all philosophically while we wonder how two psychologists can miss all the signals. If someone with the DVDs invites you to try the series, ask for this episode.

English farce meets Frasier and it's hilarious
lbowdls30 September 2019
Like many others reviews it seems others also find this episode hilarious. One of my top 5 episodes because of the miscommunications and misunderstandings abounding. Just like the best of British farces. Absolutely brilliant comedic writing! It never gets tired. "I'm not gay Guy (Gee)"

One of, or maybe The Best episodes of Frasier.
FChristopherV31 March 2020
The talent and chemistry of the cast comes forward the most in these kinds of episodes. Which means: everyone misinterpreteting eachother in an confined space blended with slapstick. Hard to describe but you probably know what I mean. This one and season 6 - episode 16: Decoys are just about that. Excellent, hilarious throughout! This is where the show shines. I can rewatch these episodes every year. There is nothing quite like this in other shows!

Frasier's high energy farce
DarthVoorhees16 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This is often mentioned as one of if not the best episode of the series. It does what the show did best create mini-farces that feel like stage plays. This one might be the most extravagant and busiest attempt at this.

Frasier gets a free weekend at a ski lodge and brings his whole family. Niles is rebounding from his divorce with Maris and finally thinks he will attempt to woo Daphne. Daphne has brought her friend Annie along and Annie falls for Niles while Frasier falls for Annie. Daphne has her eyes on the ski instructor Guy who has his eyes on Niles. To make matters worse Martin has a head cold and can't hear very well and so he eggs them on not understanding the situations. The whole thing becomes a classical farce complete with the literal slamming of doors. It contains one of the great series moments as Niles shrieks "I'm not gay Guy!"

'The Ski Lodge' is a very funny and meticulously crafted episode. That the whole convoluted plot actually weaves together so strongly is a testament to the writing. 'Frasier' did a lot of episodes like this because the characters worked well in them but this one is by far the most elaborate and ambitious. It is rightly considered a classic although as a 'Frasier' fan I don't know if I'd call it one of the best as some do as I prefer the more character driven episodes.

Bedroom Farce
Hitchcoc12 October 2019
When Frasier is able to bring the whole gang to a luxurious ski lodge, he sets in motion a series of encounters, based on secret desires. Niles loves Daphne, but she doesn't reciprocate; Frasier wants to shack up with the swim suit model; Daphne wants the ski instructor, but he is gay and takes a shine to Niles. It's hundred mile per hour comedy.

Solid Episode Filled with Plenty of Laughs
The Movieman27 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
As a series, "Frasier" has its on and off episodes (especially seasons 8-10, after Niles and Daphne got together) but this one ranks right up there as one of the better episodes of the series.

"The Ski Lodge" finds Frasier, his dad, Daphne and her hot girl friend, going to a ski cabin where messages get twisted around developing into hilarious sitcom situations.

I own season 5 and I can't resist to pop in the disc and watch this episode again and again. It's not that it's one of the best of any series, but I can't help but watch every time. With the reduced prices for the Frasier DVD sets, pick season 5 up as there are plenty of great episodes contained in this season.

Pure comedic gold.
bmc515115 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
You could easily make the argument that this the single greatest episode of comedic television ever. The obvious ode to the "French farce" was absolutely brilliant. I can't imagine the logistics of how they pulled off all the room-switching silliness of the third act, but it was so well-done I couldn't almost believe I was watching it. From Daphne's friend's stupidity, to - of course - Frasier's usual unfounded arrogance that everything was all about him, to Niles' naivete not realizing that both Annie and Guy were after him, there is so much to love about this episode. Obviously, the clincher is Frasier's instant-classic "...and no one... was chasing me." line. For lovers of great comedy TV - no matter your generation - this is as good as it gets.

No.1 'Best' Episode of the whole series!
zuxqne29 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The one liners from this episode are brilliant, this for me...'IS'...the best episode of the whole series! From Guy to Daphnes best friend to the buttered rum, to the two reindeer nuzzling in the snow. Guy thinks Daphne and her friend are lesbians, Daphne Fancy's Guy, Daphnes friend fancies Niles, Guy Fancy's Niles, Niles Fancy's Daphne, Frasier fancy's Daphnes friend and Martin has blocked ears, likes his buttered rum and misses the TV. Unfortunately nobody is chasing Frasier.... Haha... Every single actor in this episode has a cracking script to tell and the ending is sublime. Cracks me up every time. 10/10 and No.1 for the best episode of the series!! (Just my opinion)
