In this episode Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) and Julia Wilcox (Felicity Huffman) are having a heated argument, during which Frasier asks Julia, "Are you as turned on as I am?" In the "Cheers (1982)" episode "Show Down: Part 2 (1983)," Sam and Diane are having a similarly big argument. During this argument Sam asks the exact same question, to which Diane replies, "More!" and they kiss. It aired in 1983, and as an in-joke Bulldog (Dan Butler) later criticizes Frasier's rather dated choice of thr line by saying that no one has used the term "turned on" for 20 years.
Mike Judge gives a nod to his "Beavis and Butt-Head (1993)" character Mr. Van Driessen by playing a character named "Van," the sexual harassment meeting coordinator.
When Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) and Julia (Felicity Huffman) are arguing, it mimics the argument Frasier had with Kate (Mercedes Ruehl) in "Sleeping with the Enemy (1995)." Frasier calls both women "Shrew!" at the end of their arguments, only the argument with Kate ends in a kiss wheras the argument with Julia ends in her disgust.
