- Frasier and Roz secretly observe a focus group evaluating their program - and overall the group gives extremely effusive praise for both of them, except for one negative critic. - Frasier's show on KACL is presented to a focus group of twelve people, and unbeknownst to them, Frasier and Roz watch from behind a two-way mirror as they give their feedback. The reactions are almost all positive, except for one man, Manu Habib (Tony Shalhoub), who keeps quiet. When asked directly, he says he does not like the host, giving no reason. Roz is delighted with the overall response, but Frasier starts to obsess over why this one man does not like him. Meanwhile, Niles is being overcharged for an art restoration job, after he slightly damaged a Jackson Pollock at a gallery opening. He has a spontaneous argument with Daphne, which he finds very exciting although he regrets every word spoken in anger, and later on tries baiting her to recreate the experience.
- Frasier's show is aired to a focus group. Eleven out of twelve people have nothing but good things to say, but Frasier becomes obsessed with the twelfth man. Niles repeatedly tries to provoke Daphne after getting turned on by a fierce argument with her.—crouchbk
- A focus group is reviewing each of KACL's radio shows, and Frasier's show is on the list.
Frasier and Roz are privy to viewing the participants behind the 2-way glass in a room. While the majority of the listeners have positive things to say, one person claims he just doesn't like Frasier. When asked to give a reason behind his feelings, the man (named Manu) can't provide one.
Even with a majority of positive voices, Manu's words haunt Frasier. Everyone tries to tell Frasier to forget this, but as he, Niles, and Martin are driving to dinner, they see Manu operating a newsstand.
Frasier has Martin attempt to inquire about Frasier's show, under a false name. Of course, Martin does it his way, and just asks Manu directly.
Even with an indirect answer, Frasier can't take it, and goes over to Manu himself. This startles Manu, and as Frasier attempts to get a straight answer, he spills milk on his pants, and accidentally crushes his hand. Frasier offers to run the newsstand until Manu gets back, but in the process, a cigarette ends up starting a fire, and the newsstand soon burns down.
In the aftermath, Manu lets out his anger on Frasier, claiming that he dislikes Frasier, because he always seems so high-and-mighty, and that his attitude has caused the destruction of his (aka Manu's) business.
Frasier leaves, satisfied that he has an answer.
