Roz has great knowledge of the space program and has talked Kenny into letting her do a documentary. She is kind enough to let Frasier do the narration, but once he comes into conference room, he begins to take over. He has been Roz's boss for years and now he can't show the kindness to let her do her own thing. So in anger, she fires Frasier and chooses Senator John Glenn, the amazing astronaut to replace him. I was annoyed with his tactics.

Wooden Performance

A fairly good episode marred by stilted and wooden acting from then Senator John Glenn. I have nothing against the late Senator, but he was not a comedic actor. He was an American hero, although he out of his element here.
John Glenn shows his comedic chops!

Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was a solid episode.
Frasier being even more overbearing than usual, his passive/aggressive treatment of Roz being quite "on the nose" (cone).
The best part of this was Sen. John Glenn tortured memories of what he really saw in space. To me, his performance was far from wooden. Being shamed for working sub rosa with Frasier played off his upstanding hero image. And his wild gestures as he pantomimes scary creatures shooting by are priceless.
Niles trying to fly a kite is another example of David Hyde-Pierce's physical comedy chops - as witnessed elsewhere when he duels a fencing instructor and his incredible pressing of the pants scene.
This is a nice change of pace show with an actual American Hero and it definitely lifts off!

A sub par episode

In the last episode Frasier wouldn't, or indeed couldn't, let Niles have his time in the sun. Here it's the turn of Roz to get her dreams hampered by Frasier - who the writers have turned into a real whiny and pushy bore of late.
So, it'll not surprise you to learn that I didn't much care for this episode, and will add it to the long list of episodes from the really rather poor eighth series that doesn't live up to its potential, or indeed is much good in general.
Quite why the show had such a dip in form around this point I don't know, but again, this is another misfiring effort from all involved , with the kite scene being the only saving grace.
