This is the first episode where Roz' pregnancy is beginning to show.
Frasier tells Niles that the entrance to the VIP room at 'Le Cigare Volant' (note: translates to 'The Flying Cigar') is through the dry cleaners' next door. This harks back to The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964), where the entrance to U.N.C.L.E. headquarters in New York was through Del Floria's tailor shop. This trope was used again in Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014), in which the secret entry was via a fitting room in the Kingsman establishment in Saville Row.
Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) says his birthday is in March, yet in Are You Being Served? (1997) the entry in Hester's old diary for April 14th says that she is expecting her first child soon.
Martin (John Mahoney) mistakenly states May 7th as Frasier's (Kelsey Grammer) birthday. May 7th is the birth date of co-star Peri Gilpin's twins.
At one point in this episode, Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) enters his ex-girlfriend's answering machine and listens to his own messages, and then accidentally deletes all of them. A very similar gag had been used in the TV series Friends (1994) more than a year before, in the episode 'The One Where No One's Ready (1996)' (season 3, episode 2), when Monica calls her ex-boyfriend Richard's answering machine, deletes all his messages and ends up recording a new (and surreal) welcome message for him.
