One of my favorite Frasier episodes. It has a lot of soul, even if its set in the arctic tundra.
Others have aptly explained why this episode is great, and I just wanted to add to their appreciation.

When Martin's friend Duke cancels on an ice fishing trip, he feels bad. So, reluctantly, Niles and Frasier decide to go with him. Once they arrive at the fish house, things get pretty intense. Frasier has never heard his dad say he loves him and hopes this will be an avenue to that happening. It's all pretty good and has a couple touching moments.

In my opinion, this is one of the best episodes of Frasier.
In this episode, all that Frasier wants is to hear Martin say 'I love You' to him, but trying gets him to join him and Niles ice fishing after Martin's friend Duke opts out, afterwards the Crane v. Crane rivalry begins!
Niles has some funny one liners, along with Frasier. But the end result of the bickering is better than itself
Go watch and you'll be hooked on the Ice Fishing parts

The creators of this show on the DVD extras claim that Series 2 of 'Frasier' was perfect, and that every episode of it was perfect. At least they're modest!.
This actually though is a good episode, that has lots of moments. Unlike earlier ones in the series it finds the balance between comedy/pathos a little more naturally, and boasts some good performances from mainly the 3 male leads.
I don't agree with the creators that every episode was a classic, but this one's pretty good.
