Sex & Nudity

  • There is no nudity.
  • One of the hotel guests appears to be in a hurry to retire to his room with his much younger female companion. Basil mildly hints that they are keen to engage in sexual activity.
  • Two guests are so keen to get away from Fawlty Towers that they are happy to stay in the hotel near the Prophylactic Emporium.
  • A hotel guest is seen blowing up a rubber woman sex toy.

Violence & Gore

  • A man and lady are bitten by a dog.
  • Basil threatens to go and hit some guests.
  • Polly slaps Miss Tibbs and knocks her to the ground.
  • Basil locks Miss Tibbs in a cupboard. She becomes quite distressed.
  • When a hotel guest dies, the Major automatically assumes he has been shot.
  • Basil pokes Manuel in the eye with his finger.
  • A guest claims that the hotel poisoned her baby who was now dead. It isn't clear to the other guests that she is referring to her dog.

Profanity

  • A woman says that her dog is a shiatsu, which the Major mistakes for a derogatory description of it.
  • Three uses of "bloody".
  • One use of "cock-up" and "damn" each.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Many of the hotel guests are seen consuming alcohol in the bar. Most of them drink and behave responsibly. The Major appears to be slightly intoxicated.
  • Sybil smokes cigarettes
  • Miss Tibbs is offered brandy by Sybil after she has fainted.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A guest dies during the night. Basil panics thinking that the breakfast that he just served him had something wrong with it, but is relieved when he realises that it was of natural causes and even celebrates the fact, only for the coroner to walk in at that point.
  • As always, Basil is prone to ranting in a crazed manner, red-faced, intense. It is funny but some may find it disturbing.
  • Two hotel guests are involved in a car accident (off camera).

  • This episode largely concerns a guest of the hotel who dies. His corpse is manhandled from room to room. It is done in an amusing manner but may disturb some.
