The Pilot aboard Elack announces that they have discovered a planet nearby and even though sensors detect nothing John and Chiana head down to the surface while Rygel and Sikozu attempt to some of repair Elack's systems. Once on the planet John and Chiana find themselves at the wring end of an Interion's gun; luckily before the situation deteriorates Jool and D'Argo appear and explain what is going on. We learn that the planet is called Arnessk and it was once home to an order of priests who some how lived at peace with both Peacekeepers and Scarrans till one day they disappeared. Jool is helping fellow Interion Vella undertake an archaeological dig in search of three devices believed to have caused the priests disappearance. The old lady they picked up at the end of season three believes Vella wants the devices for use as a weapon so tries to convince Crichton that he must kill her; to achieve this she blows a strange dust into his face that causes him to have a vision of where the devices fell.
Meanwhile Scorpius has certainly fallen from power; he is now Grayza's prisoner and she and the newly promoted Captain Braca are torturing him to find out why Crichton is so special to him. Later they discover Crichton's location and head to Arnessk and quickly capture Jool, Chiana and Crichton. Once she has Crichton we learn that she has a power over men; she had already used it on Braca but as she was in the bath at the time one could be excused for thinking it was just the situation that was affecting him!
This was a decent episode; it was good to see the tables turned on Scorpius although what is done to him is so degrading I ended up feeling rather sorry for him! Rebecca Riggs continues to impress as Commandant Grayza; she makes a very seductive villainess... even before we learn of her 'ability'. The main story feels like some of those from the first season where they would go to a planet and find something odd going on there... the arrival of Grayza changed that though is a way that kept things dark... in a good way. Once again there is no sign of Aeryn; I like how the writers are keeping us guessing what has happened to her since her departure at the end of Season Three. Being the first of a two part story there is a cliff hanger ending; it is good enough although not as dramatic as it would have been if a different character was endangered... some how I don't think this Crichton is going to die!
