Saved by Scorpius

Warning: Spoilers
As the third and final part of this story opens we see that even though Crichton is now a statue he can still communicate with others; although it seems that his life, as a statue or otherwise will soon be over when Prince Clavor and the Scarran cut his head from his body and dump it in acid. They don't count on Scorpius fishing it out again although he doesn't have it for long as the undercover Peacekeeper, Jenavian, relieves him of it and puts it back on his body before awakening him. Together they go into hiding knowing that Scorpius and the Scarran will be looking for him. Aeryn meanwhile has decided to go out with Dregon after all; unfortunately he has overstated his rock-climbing abilities which lead to them both getting seriously injured in the Barren Lands. Back on Moya Zhaan is determined that if Moya and Pilot are to die then so will she and the person responsible for Moya's death.

This episode was a fine conclusion to the three part story where most of the main cast was in serious jeopardy at some point. It was a nice surprise to see John being rescued by Scorpius, although it made sense; he still wants Crichton's wormhole knowledge. This story was helped by the return of Scorpius, and it was interesting to learn more about him. The introduction of the Scarrans; a race that appear to be a match for the Peacekeepers also promises interesting things to come. While Crichton's story was the most interesting the events on Moya provided some good character development for Zhaan and even though Aeryn got injured her story was the lightest of the three. Without spoiling the finale I will say that it was well handled and rather poignant.

Great little series

This was a great little 3-part saga that re-energized the series for me. It had a lot of solid character development and the villains went further than I thought they would. John's decision at the end to be re-statued (or whatever they call it) for the sake of his daughter was quite honorable.

I really like a system where the rulers (in the statues) have to govern while they cannot enjoy it, basically preparing a realm for themselves in the future. While they rule, they cannot just screw everything up or else they will make life miserable for themselves in the future.

It wasn't perfect; where was security that whole time? There were a number of holes that needed some explaining, but it IS only a TV series, after all.

One of the best 3-part episodes ever

What a superb conclusion to a brilliant story. It wasn't drawn out, the pacing was great and it covered a lot of ground.

A lot of show's double episodes aren't justified: they could be compacted into a normal episode, but Farscape had three 3-parters which were all warranted.

This and the We're So Screwed Trilogy (plus many other stories) prove that Farscape deserved more seasons and was one of the best sci-fi shows of all time
