Lois Is A Star
callanvass22 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Lois is fed up of housework, asks Peter to help her more around the house. She starts by asking Peter to take Chris to his soccer game and head straight home after. Peter gets coerced into staying by Quagmire to drink beer. After a man makes fun of Chirs, Peter punches her. The he turns out to be a "she" and pregnant as well. Peter is forced to be house arrested. Lois thinks it is an opportunity to get Peter to spend quality time with her. Bored out of his wits, Peter gets an inspiration to build the "Old Ye Pub" down in his basement, so his friends can hang out with him. The experiment is a success. Peter's plan backfires when Lois starts performing on stage. Meanwhile, Stewie has a searing toothache that is driving him mad. I love Family Guy. Even though Peter can be a complete imbecile, he's very funny most of the time, despite how obnoxious he is. I don't enjoy this episode as much as the others, simply because it isn't as clever as a lot of Family Guy episodes are. I'm used to Peter being selfish beyond belief, but if I was in Lois shoes, I would slap him silly for the shenanigans he pulls in this one. Tracking mud in the house? That would infuriate me. Seth McFarlane's gag of the "He-Woman" is so ludicrous that is hilarious. Seth does some of his outrageous stuff, such as Stewy getting drunk to alleviate his teething problems. He takes a shot at Tim Allen, Minto commercial, and even has teeth talking. It is funny, clever, and very entertaining. It just isn't one of my favorites, but I do like it

GIMME MY SOCK BACK!

Another classic episode but not one of my overall favorites -- I guess I just don't find the 'bored housewife' storyline to be all that interesting, though I did enjoy the character building between Peter and Lois that it led to.

The screened-in porch / veranda is also rarely ever used as a shooting location and it is used in this episode!

The Lady of the House
injury-654479 June 2020
My main issue with this episode is that it devotes the majority of its time to Lois and her journey from bored housewife to basement cabaret singer. Lois as a character complains about being unappreciated by her family and yet chooses to stay married to a completely selfish buffoon - so we don't really feel any sympathy for her.

Unfortunately I don't find the Lois character or her problems interesting and her voice is pretty annoying. The fact that she is singing for a lot of this episode only aggravates the voice problem.

There are still enough Stewie moments and other random funny moments, like the pregnant woman who Peter thinks is a man, to make the episode a fairly enjoyable watch though.

Really Funny!
g-bodyl16 December 2013
The fourth episode in Season One of Family Guy is a really funny episode that has some memorable jokes, witty pop culture references, and a pretty good overall story. The characters are getting better with each episode and I particularly liked the dramatic/comedic interplay between Peter Griffin and his wife. For popular culture references, I really liked the Narnia/Tumnus reference.

This episode, "Mind Over Murder" is about how Peter gets placed under house arrest for mistakenly punching a pregnant woman so he opens a bar in his basement. Things get real when all his guests are entertained by his wife.

Overall, this is a really funny episode that has plenty of jokes to keep the usual fan entertained. I really like the stupidity of Peter Griffin, especially in this episode. I rate this episode 9/10.

So much comes from this great episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Lois gets ever more frustrated with Peter's lack of help around the house. Peter assaults a pregnant woman at Chris's football game and is placed under house arrest. Lonely, Peter sets up a bar in his basement, much to Lois's irritation, until she takes over proceedings.

This is a great episode, famous for many things, we finally get properly introduced to Quagmire, Cleveland and Pawtucket Patriot, Stewie gets the idea to build a time machine.

This is such a funny episode with loads of great moments and one liners, Bert and Ernie's scene is great. Drunken Stewie is fun too.

Peter's kind of unlikable

Warning: Spoilers
After Peter punches a pregnant women at Chris's soccer game and goes under house arrest Peter opens a bar in his basement. When Peter realizes people are only coming for Lois Peter becomes unlikable and then stewie invents this time machine so it's one of those dumb "this episode never happened plot" and it's not really funny.

Spoiler Alert 🚨
DarkDragon_85217 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Stewie is in terrible pain from teething and cannot find comfort anywhere. When his mother Lois tells him that his pain will ultimately pass, it gives him the idea to build a machine that will move time forward to the point where his teething will have already stopped. Meanwhile, Lois tells Peter to drive their son Chris to his soccer match, then come right back to look after Stewie. However, Peter's friend Quagmire is there, and has brought beer, so Peter decides to ignore Lois and stay at the game. While there, another member of the crowd insults Chris. Enraged, Peter punches the individual in the face, only to discover that it is a pregnant woman who looks and sounds like a man.

Peter is put under house arrest for assault and soon begins to miss his friends. Peter has a vision of the Pawtucket Patriot, a fictional ale mascot, from his ale can label and on his advice opens a bar in his basement so that his friends can come to visit. The basement bar soon becomes a local hotspot. Lois is upset about this, until she gets a chance to sing on stage before an appreciative crowd. As she savors the spotlight over the next few days, Peter becomes increasingly uncomfortable with the attention she is getting, especially from the male patrons. Peter demands that she quit singing, but she refuses.

Peter is soon cornered by the neglected wives of his bar's patrons, and invites them to drag their husbands out from his bar. Meanwhile, Stewie's time machine plans are accidentally discovered by Lois, who shows them around to the bar's patrons. Angered and upset that his plans have been discovered, Stewie runs upstairs. Soon after, the wives storm the bar and Lois tells them that she only wants to feel appreciated and special, something to which all the other women relate. Meanwhile, Quagmire accidentally starts a fire.

Upstairs, Stewie takes drastic measures to protect his plans, programming the machine to go back in time before he drew them up. In the bar, Peter and Lois have a heart-to-heart conversation, and they do not immediately notice that the bar is burning. When they try to escape, the stairs become blocked and they are trapped. Stewie reverses time just as Peter is having an epiphany about how poorly he treats Lois, and seconds before the basement bar goes up in flames. They all travel back in time, to when Lois asked Peter to take Chris to the game. While he is getting ready, Peter trips on Stewie's time machine, destroying it and injuring his leg, thus preventing him from taking Chris to his soccer match, while Stewie is left to suffer with more teething pain.
