Great child acting!

Ray and Debra are in the kitchen pretending to be lovey doves in front of their son, whom you assume is Michael, but when he leaves Ray announces that was Geoffrey. Just as the child turns to leave, he gives a very subtle almost eye roll, indicating that he thinks his parents have lost it. Love that moment. Great episode. All parents are publicly embarrassed by their children at some point.

Incredibly real family drama that is incredibly gut rentchliy funny

This is an incredibly funny but but horrendously hilarious family comedy event.

I feel that one can really enjoy creative spirit these children express. Having a close (sometime too close) family helps appreciate the humor this creates.

This is a real treat for all families who enjoy real and interpersonal humor.

I especially enjoy the roles payed by the children, Father Hubley, Robert, Raymond,Marie, crazy Frank and the school teacher and counselor(the facilitator).

Actaually "Who did invent the lawn" it is amazing how often this question may have been asked since golf courses and croquet yards were invented. And why was this important anyway.

It all adds to the sense of what is silly but wonderful about this story.

The lessons of a dysfunctional family.
alanbourbeau2421 July 2021
No family is ever going to be perfect at all. I should know because my family for example is not 100% percent. My family members can be dysfunctional. Like today, my older brother was being verbally abusive towards my mom. Both my nephew and I were emotionally disturbed. Now, regarding to this episode. I think I can compare this fictional dysfunctional family to mine because of the similarities. Believe me, I wish I could have a Catholic priest to become a family therapist.

Warning: Spoilers
Michael writes a story that he presents at open house in front of all the other parents. Ray, Debra, Ray's parents and Robert are horrified when they they see the title of it: "The Angry Family". Michael goes on to tell about how the mom yells, and the grandparents argue and so forth. The family sits horrified as they realize Michael is airing their dirty laundry in front of everyone. They quickly leave the open house with Michael, only to get a call later from the teacher because they missed the conference that was scheduled for after open house.

They arrange to meet the teacher next day, and promptly Debra begins talking about the book, and that it really wasn't about them. But before you know it, she starts blabbing about what she has to deal with, and her in-laws live across the street and never leave them alone and who wouldn't crack under that kind of pressure. The teacher is speechless and suggests they go to counseling.

The counseling session with the priest is hilarious as each of the Barone family members take a crack at defending themselves or accusing the others. They all leave the counseling session feeling guilty and taking home all kinds of parenting help books from the priest.

The best part is the twist at the end. Ray and Debra are reading the parenting books in bed when Michael comes in. After they mention "The Angry Family" book he did, he tells them its about a funny cartoon show he watches - so it was never about the Barones in the first place! But he sure had everyone jumping through hoops!
