This always-hilarious show scores again with this episode where Marie takes the blame for Debra who threw out Muhammed Ali's letter to Ray. Marie then asks for a favor with a Don Corleone-like "...and that day may never come." Yeah, Debra's obviously never seen The Godfather! Marie collects pretty soon after and puts Debra on the spot and from then on the "favors" get out of control. This is my favorite type of episode of Raymond, where everybody has done something that gets brought into the light. It unravels really fast and hilariously. Remember, everybody's got a secret!

Marie has no taste

In this episode, Marie tells dab that her husband, Frank "dresses like a derelict", which couldn't be further from the truth. Pick an episode any episode out of the nine seasons of the show, and take a good look at the character, frank Barone he is always impeccably, dressed in casual clothes, his pants his shirt, his sweater are always well coordinated, and they always look brand new. For all the food, Frank eats for all the big laughs about Frank's expanded belly and how he hast undo is belt and unzips pants, I don't believe I've ever seen a retiree who is supposed to be as cantankerous and manly as Frank Barones character is, and yet is so well dressed. I wouldn't be surprised if they've ever done a close-up of his hands that he would've displayed impeccably, manicured nails. I don't know who wrote this episode, but I guess, as it was the last season, the writers just gave up on the integrity of their characters.

The ninth series of 'Raymond' was a mixed bag, with the consistency across the episodes not being as high as what had gone before.
This however is a stellar episode, that builds to a big funny climax, which is classic 'Raymond'.
All the main characters have their moments, and the second half plays out like a big piece of theatre.
Doris Roberts is brilliant as Marie here, and despite ill health it's lovely to see Peter Boyle being given more to do.
An above average episode,
