The Longer You Stay (#8.2)
ComedyFan201024 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This episode had a lot happening. One of the saddest stories was Peter's ex dying. They have really done great scenes with it. Peter dealing with his little son was absolutely sad. Also her boyfriend coming to see her dad was a well done and sad scene. I wonder if he will stay in the life of the boy, he is not his biological son but having been a big part of his life one wonders that they would need to stay in touch.

The story about Dr. Chen and Dr. Malucci making a big mistake which resulted in a man's death is a pretty good idea as well. I wonder how this will go on, I am sure this is not over and there will be some problems because of this in the next episodes.

Sadness
razaxo18 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Usually I don't care to write reviews. I've been on ER binge for a few weeks. How does a child comprehend the death of his mother. Being a special needs kid too. He had no one. A busy father and a mother who use men for her support. Carla death was not necessary. Seeing Peter sign to his son that his mother never coming back and trying explain why. Reece repeatedly asking. I genuinely felt how is this gonna pan out for him. Peter doesn't show emotion often but for Reece he's always shown up. A father we all hope to have.

ER uses death alot to create drama which I'm not a big fan of. Killing off side characters like nobody business. Lucy was another bad one. Her character deserved better.

"Deb" was exposed
polite-456924 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"Deb" was exposed as being completely unqualified to be chief resident (and, in general, to be an ER physician). Weaver's low opinion of Malucci should be applied to "Deb," but something is causing her to be biased.

Luka finally had enough of Abby's melodrama and, correctly, informed her: "You're not that pretty. You're not that special." Abby's response--"I'm pretty enough in the dark, aren't I?"--proves his point.

Finally a Dr Carter episode
neatmiker12 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Nice to have Dr Carter back in the 'doctoring' spotlight this episode. His drug addiction storyline has been the focus of this character for long enough. Other highlights include: Luca and Abby's break-up - don't get me wrong, I like both characters but the story they forced the characters into ruined their potentially co-redemptive relationship. Carla's gone! - couldn't care how or why, just thankful this character has finally been written out. If only Deb/Chen could find a similar fate very soon. Speaking of that...who decided this person could act? She delivers her lines like she's reading them, most of her scenes end with her trademark grimace/sideways glance of derision at whoever delivered the line before her and the extent of her character development has been that she wants to be called Ching Mae (or whatever); not Deb.

I took a full 2 stars off of my rating due to the Greene's baby crying which was seemingly turned up in editing to heighten the anxiety of the 2 scenes she was in. Not only did it succeed it also made it nearly impossible to hear the dialogue. Completely unnecessary.

All in all a missed opportunity for a good/great episode ruined by glaring production choices. Sadly this has become the norm.
