The Long Way Around (#3.15)

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the extraordinary episode that happen outside the hospital. In this one we also see almost none of the main characters and it mainly rotates around Carol who is a hostage during a robbery that also involves some shootings.

Ewan McGregor is also in the episode. It is done shortly after Trainspotting and he is still a very young guy here. He is also showing his amazing acting skills that make one love his character and feel the empathy, which also makes it easy to understand why Carol felt it as well.

Lots of action, suspense and feeling on the edge. great episode.

Warning: Spoilers
This show mainly focuses on Carol Hathaway outside of the hospital. She is taken hostage, along with other people when a robbery of the convenience store goes bad. Julianna Margulies really shines in this episode. She desperately tries to save the life of one of the customers who was shot, and then has to treat one of the robbers who was also shot.

Ewan MacGregor plays Duncan, one of the robbers, and while this is an early role for him, you can see his great acting ability. Even though he is the one that killed the customer, he makes you sympathetic towards him. He takes Carol with him as a hostage when he tries to escape, but it ends badly for him.

Carol attempts to save Duncan, and arrives at the ER, still doing chest compressions. She basically takes charge in the trauma room, ordering the doctors around. When Duncan doesn't make it, you can really see the pain in her face.

This was a nice change in the show - to be out of the ER for most of the show. All of the actors - the different customers in the store were great, and the combination of the writing and acting makes this one of my favorite episodes.

Warning: Spoilers
I just saw this episode for the first time, it's 2018. I've been binging ER and this episode may be the last one I watch. The situations presented were ridiculous but the straw that broke the camel's back was the cop shooting the guy running away and the guy ended up with chest wounds! I replayed it many times, the wounds should have been in his back. This episode was a total waste of my time and an insult to my intelligence.
