Surrender (#7.12)

Warning: Spoilers
Mark is back to work but it looks like it won't go as smoothly as one would hope because he does use wrong pronouns and is easily irritated. As somebody who likes Mark I am looking forward to see how it plays out, so far the story of the tumor was a roller coaster.

Carter has to start his probe time at hospital again after he confesses to Weaver that he took medications. Don't really know why it is necessary as he threw them up a minute later. But it got us some good scenes of Peter and Carter and it is obvious how ashamed Carter is to have let down Peter. As well he gos to see his cousin and tells him about his addiction.

As Good As It Gets

Carter faces his addiction and his purposely forgotten crippled cousin, while Weaver confronts her sexual orientation and growing affection for Dr. Legaspi. Félix Enríquez Alcalá directs this well-written collaborative script with visual flair. He clearly gets the best out of his actors in every scene and uses Amanda Ghost's "Silver Lining" with effective editing to end this poignant episode.

Besides the strong lines, the actors show their craft and their comprehension of their characters by using a lot of non-verbal and drawing us into the situations and into their heads. The intensity of their inner turmoils surpass the typical ER traumas. From the opening sequence with classic Romano & Benton banter to the last shot, these 44 minutes are pure delight.
