At the end of the previous season, Dr. Pratt found himself in a situation Dr. Carter had been in during season 4--wishing to switch from another residency program to return to the E.R. residency program at County Hospital. Yet while Carter, who had been in a surgery program, had to take an unpaid year because there was no opening for a paid resident, Pratt seems to move seamlessly back to County without any explanation in this episode as to how there was space for him as a resident. Plus, Weaver, Romano, and other doctors at County regularly expressed how little they liked Pratt, so it is less believable that they would welcome him back.
Two different Volvo station wagons are used in the crash sequence: in the first shots, a champagne gold 700/800 model series wagon is shown as evidenced by the door panel detailing, and the taillight/rear hatch design; in the shots when the truck is bearing down and making contact, a yellow gold 200 series wagon is shown which has the signature "boxy" early Volvo shape as well as the old Volvo insignia tag on the side panel and the non-metallic paint.
