Doug Ross Takes Center Stage
davulture22 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
In the previous episode Doug Ross was let go, his medical career in jeopardy and practically everyone in the ER somehow hating him. After taking shelter in his car during a heavy rainstorm, a boy comes up to him and tells him his brother is trapped between the river dam. Leave it up to Doug Ross to immediately rush into the situation and try and save the kid. As the Kid's brother dials for help, Ross tries to help the kid who is trapped behind a serious of metal bars. Barely remaining a float from drowning, Ross tries his best to help the kid but struggles at best. Even after Ross gets him out of the dam an ambulance and television crew arrive. Ross manages to save the kid and ends up taking the television helicopter back to County and after he arrives all soaked...Greene and the other Doctors help out and the kid is saved..Overall good episode, strong acting by George Clooney (he should have won an Emmy) and amazing intense action sequences. One of the Top 10 ER Episodes of all time.

Now we got something more than your average ER episode, much like "Loves labor lost" from season one.. amd what a thrilling experience!

This episode starts off like your average episode, but suddenly evolves into a nailbitting experience with amazing character moments and big emotions! This is the strengt od this show! Putting you right in the moment, making you feel whatever the characters are feeling, whether its the adrenaline, frustration, sadness etc.

This episode has George Clooney as Doug Ross in his A-game! Amazing performance that brings out the best of character: His stubbornness and will to save someone, especially children! The episode also Pays off great with his development in the past episodes!

This is ER at its FINNEST!

Hell and High Water (#2.7)

Warning: Spoilers
Doug is already well established as a character we like, but in this episode he totally took it all the way. And this episode is also full of action. From the moment the little brother of the trapped boy comes running to Doug for help until the very last minute it is all extremely intense and keeps us on the edge.

The part in the tunnel is amazing, great acting and the interaction between Doug and the boy is very well done. George Clooney did some great acting there. The whole idea with the news helicopter bringing them and all the reporters being around was pretty great as well. Especially them observing Doug with the kid in the helicopter from the ER. And also I liked this very well done parallel of the girl who ends up dying while this boy survives.Definitely a great episode.

What a terrible episode...

Warning: Spoilers
I wonder if we can talk about jumping the shark, there. Because this episode was all kinds of awful. Everything from the tone and acting, was off... I get that Ross needed to redeem himself, from having his whole career destroyed by his bad temper. But man! Clooney was over doing it, all the way. The twists were so ridiculous, it felt like we were watching some silly action movie. And the whole part where they rescued the kid, was dull. Especially when another patient about the same age as his, died at the same time. And they completely shifted focus, like it didn't matter. Season 2 is still better than that so so first season. But turning dr. Ross into Batman, was anything but genuine.
