Everything else in between is just meh. Which is the synthesis for the whole season too. Making it the worst in my book. There are very good episodes like the premiere and second episode, The Long Goodbye, Hotel New Hampshire, Something Wilder, Guerrilla Filmmaking and Cigarette Burns. But it's hardly enough to salvage this whole year. With all its overdone self awareness and useless subplots. Previous episodes were ok. Some good, some bad. Dawson's affair with that film critic. Joey reuniting with her father (offscreen). And Sherilyn Fenn's guest appearance, which brings us to the bad. On top of making her character into a soap opera vixen, they made her relationship with Pacey very toxic and twisted, randomly. And had him make really stupid decisions. Like having the whole restaurant staff fired, to try defend their honor and livelihood... Goodbye Civilisation. And the good TV soundtrack. And Mr. Smalls, what was the point of him exactly?... So now, Jen and Jack are back to being besties, which I love. Dawson and Joey are still circling around each other. And Pacey and Audrey reunite in a very cheesy way. But the group is back to Capeside, and off to new adventures for the Summer. With most of the action taking place at the airport. That opening scene was a good way to introduce us to what's to come. And the actors looked exactly their age, for once. It's not a great finale, but it's a decent way to end this « bad » season.
