I've reviewed two earlier episodes and those reviews have mostly been might thoughts on the development of various characters through the series to that point. I was highly favorable to Andie because the episode I commented on was the high point of her character. Interestingly, the very next episode began a sad decline.
As I commented, Andie had been a laudable person up to that point and displayed remarkable character despite serious difficulties in her home life and health. One of her best things was her impact on Pacey. Now, as of this episode, Andie has become little more than someone to pity. All of the good qualities are effectively gone. I find it hard to believe that her mental health issues can be responsible for such a sad decline. Perhaps it was Pacey's influence on her that allowed her character to shine, not because she was any less as a person, but because his encouragement kept her level. In any case, I find it very sad that the writers have taken a girl who was an example of success despite difficulties and turned her into a victim.
I'm not real happy with Pacey either. Andie really had contributed with his own efforts to make him a very appealing character. His choices at the very beginning of the season have lowered him mightily in my book.
Although that arc appears over, or at least on hiatus, Dawson has been inconsistent with Eve in the picture. Eve had no appeal to me at all either in physical form or in behavior. Joey's anger in the season 2 ender should have been recognized quickly for exactly what it was, but Dawson made no effort at reconciliation. Certainly he has acted as badly towards her in the first two seasons, at least once if not more. Of course, this is to be expected in that the writers must keep the seesaw of their relationship going indefinitely, I just don't think the writers have done it convincingly.
