Daria gets a piercing!
Tweekums5 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
With Jane's birthday approaching, Trent asks Daria to help him select a suitable gift; in previous years he has just bought her more art supplies and wants to get something different. As they look around Trent takes Daria in to a piercing parlour and she ends up being talking into getting her belly button pierced! Inevitably it itches the next day and she is forced to admit that she only got it because she was trying to impress Trent. While this is going on Helen and Quinn take part in a mother and daughter fashion show which goes as well as expected.

This was a pretty funny episode; it was nice to see Daria do something silly for once rather than being the voice of reason; the fact that the piercing closed wasn't a big surprise as it meant that she didn't really change during the episode; it did however provide a good laugh when Quinn tried to tell their parents about it. Quinn's fashion show provided a few giggles but nothing unexpected; it was definitely the secondary plot. Over all this was well worth watching; mostly to watch how Daria behaves differently when she is with Trent.

One of the few episodes that proves Daria in actually human!
planktonrules7 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
While it's great that you actually see Daria as a normally screwed up teenager, this is certainly not one of the more exciting episodes. Part of it is that there is less humor than usual and part is because neither plot is all that interesting.

The first plot involves Daria going on an outing with Trent to ostensibly buy Jane a birthday present. However, they get distracted and end up in a piercing parlor--where Daria proves she is human, as she is influenced by peer pressure and a desire to attract Trent when she gets the piercing. In the end, Daria realizes she is not as together as she'd assumed and the hole miraculously disappears.

The second involves a Mother-Daughter fashion show. While normally Quinn would never want to participate, when Stacy and her equally horrid mother enter, Quinn insists that she and Helen participate as well. Naturally it doesn't end up particularly well.

As I said, neither plot is all that great but it is nice to see how normal Daria actually is. Stay tuned, you'll see about this in future episodes.
