- J.R. Ewing: [hands his half emptied glass to Sue Ellen] Here, why don't you finish this for me, Sue Ellen? And maybe you ought to start drinking again. At least when you were drunk you didn't talk so much.
- Valene Ewing: You think money's the answer to everything to you, don't you?
- J.R. Ewing: I think it's an answer to you. And you're using Lucy to get at it.
- Valene Ewing: There's only two things in this world that I love: your brother Gary and my little girl. And I don't believe that I can stand living without us at least being friends.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: [on public pay phone to doctor] You gave my father his physical. I'm sorry, I know this must be an imposition, but I was wondering, could you give me an examination this morning? No, no, I feel fine. There's just some things I'd really like to be sure about. What time? Okay, I'll be there. Thank you, Doctor.
- Valene Ewing: Hello, baby.
- Lucy Ewing: Well, Mama, what are you doing back in Texas?
- Valene Ewing: I came to see you.
- Lucy Ewing: Did you, Mama?
- Valene Ewing: Of course!
- Lucy Ewing: Well, you should have come by the ranch first. Maybe J.R. would have given you some money, and you could have left again!
- [turns around sharply, walks off]
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Don't you think I know how much our having a baby would mean to you?
- Bobby Ewing: Sometimes that's exactly what I think. Other times, I don't know.
- [shakes his head]
- Bobby Ewing: But I would rather never have a baby, honey, than have it cause this trouble between us.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Can I tell you something, and then we won't talk about it again?
- Bobby Ewing: Okay.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: More than anything in the world, I would love to have our child. And I would want it to be a little boy who grew up to be
- [shakes her head]
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: just like you.
- Bobby Ewing: But...? Pam, whatever's the matter, whatever your reasons are, you're gonna have to tell me sometime. Sometime soon.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: I know.
- [her hand reaches out to his face]
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: I know.
- Jock Ewing: Bobby, J.R. thinks you ought to run down to Austin and call in some of our markers.
- Bobby Ewing: What sort of markers, Daddy?
- Jock Ewing: Any kind that'll set a barn fire under the OLM.
- J.R. Ewing: They got us over a barrel, Bob. And I mean a barrel of oil.
