Larry's visit to his dentist doesn't go as well as planned. Saul Funkhouser is a busy no-nonsense man. Before anything is done, Saul takes a Pollaroid picture of his teeth, which he claims is for insurance purposes only. He must give Larry a shot because the gas he used didn't work the last time. In order to give him the injection, Larry must roll up the sleeves of his shirt and sweater. He is loath to do so because the elastic in the wrist will lose its effect. When all reasoning fails, Saul does the rolling himself, something that leaves Larry upset because the elastic in the sweater is stretched out.
As the Davids are driving to Jeff and Susan's to meet her cousins from Russia, Cheryl is opening the mail. She finds a letter from Dr. Funkhouser which she takes is a bill, but to her horror is the picture of Larry's teeth! As he meets the Russian couple, Larry notices the husband is barefoot, something that is gross in his mind. This man wants to know where did Larry get his glasses and asks to try them on, something that he feels strongly against. As Larry sits after dinner, Jeff's dog comes to be petted, resting his head on his lap. Susie, who witnesses that is disgusted.
Marty Funkhouser puts his two cents in by telling Larry he has a wonderful drug to recommend so he can get rid of the plaque that the hygienist mentioned during the dentist appointment. At the same time, Marty tells him about a great golf move their friend, the weatherman has taught him, but never gets to share. At any rate, the weather for Saturday is going to be rainy, something that dampen Larry's spirit since he had planned a game with Jeff.
Nat David who was visiting his son, is told by Larry not to leave the toilet seat up whenever he goes to the bathroom. Larry explains he loves to urinate sitting down; that way, he figures, he doesn't have to turn on the light and feels more comfortable than standing. That same night, after Cheryl thought she was going to throw up, has left the toilet seat up and when Larry has to go, and tries to sit, he sinks into the water, straining his back.

The testimonial dinner given for Leo Funkhouser, who is suffering from the benign form of Hodgkins, goes bad for Larry who is asked to wear a name tag that will ruin his suede jacket.
