Yes finally! Larry David at his best
Graggoz22 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
After being a bit disappointed at the previous episode #1.3 Porno Gil I really hoped this episode would make the show go back to where it was intended to go. And it sure did!

This is the first episode that fully satisfy my expectations for this show.

The episode touches on many nice and interesting social aspects such as:

* Men's desire to act lazy as soon as their wife/girlfriend are gone for a couple of days.

* How women generally cannot understand why some moment in sport games can be of such a high relevance that they are being temporarily neglected.

* The classic "No everything is OK I promise"-theatre to give men bad conscience (which always work by the way ;) )

* How people are being judged by their appearance (Larry being denied entry to the jewellery store because of his clothes and a homeless guy talking to him)

* The stupid, complicated and old-fashioned tipping system that still exist in US restaurants.

* Karma (Larry not getting a favour from the captain after refusing to tip him the day before)

* The dilemma between the desire to help a handicap person (in this case blind) and the need to spend time on oneself.

* The taboo of criticizing a handicapped individual.

* How the satisfaction of giving a gift is destroyed, if the person specifically ask for the gift just before you have planned to give it (Cheryl asking about the bracelet)

I could go on with more specific incidents, but there is really no need to. This episode is great, emphasizing on what Larry David do best, making humour out of everyday behaviour!

Back to the blooper

Warning: Spoilers
As Larry attempts to enter the jewellers, a homeless person thanks him for the chicken l'orange. At the time, this makes no sense. In episode 7, however, we see Larry give the guy some chicken l'orange.

It rather reminds me of the Seinfeld episode "The Bubble Boy"
AlsExGal7 April 2024
Cheryl comes home from four days with her family in Florida, while Larry is watching the last two minutes of a football game and doesn't give Cheryl his complete and undivided attention. Larry is thus getting the silent treatment.

Jeff's secretary tells Larry he will have to get Cheryl a gift to smooth this over. He remembers a bracelet she liked at this small shop and goes to buy it, but he's wearing his workout clothes and he hasn't shaved in days, and the salespeople will not unlock the door for him, believing him to be some unsavory character. Larry calls his well groomed friend, Richard Lewis, to come down and buy the bracelet on his behalf when they are overcome by events, including a blind man who just needs someone to move "a few boxes" for him at his new apartment. When I say that this reminded me of "The Bubble Boy" it is because this blind man turns out to be just a wee bit dictatorial. Things spin out of control in true Larry David fashion.

This episode might hit home to people perhaps more so than it did in the year 2000 due to tipping culture getting completely out of control since the pandemic.

Richard Lewis is funny as he'll in this episode
sardaracampa25 January 2024
Richard Lewis keeps standing there trying to explain to the blind man all of his psycho semanic illnesses and all of the stuff. That's wrong with him and why he has to go see therapist is some of the greatest acting and comic timing I've ever seen!

And, I won't give any spoilers here, but keep your eyes on Lewis when the blind man keeps adding additional task, and Richard looks worn out and disheveled, his hair is hanging down into his eyes like a shaggy dog, and he's as slovenly sloppy as Lt. Columbo use to look in his raincoat and ruff dried shirts!

All the while, he continues his unrelenting diatribe concerning his Dysfunctions, almost as if he's wearing them as a badge of pride! Very funny, sore-from-laughing, cheeks hilarious!

Every episode in which Richard Lewis appears in are painfully funny. He's like watching a younger AL Pacino trying to be humorous.
