Great One!

The plot, the music and the introduction to Danny Pinto, make this one an absolute classic!

The twist really gets you hooked on the story

Warning: Spoilers
The introduction of Rush's new partner at first adds some fun to the episode because of his high energy and charisma. Then the case starts and you feel confused as intended, but after the introduction of the accused's one sided best friend, you start to feel bad for the suspect and then the episode really tugs at your heart strings.

This episode truly felt like everything was about circumstances surrounding the victim more than the victims movements and relationships. But then after the ex girlfriend is introduced, you start to realise that something is off about the case and you start paying extra attention.

Then the interrogation happens and the truth comes out and you don't feel any closure for the victim, because you realise that she was just viewed as an obstacle by the murderers and you kind of feel frustrated that it took 22 years to actually put this case to rest.

The actors for both the past and current Lacey and William really sell the story and trigger your emotions.

The Motive Feels a Bit Shaky
Better_TV20 December 2018
The plot of this one starts out mysteriously enough with the murder of a teen track star (played by sci-fi queen Summer Glau) and ends up super soapy -- like a lot of Cold Case episodes.

And while I found the process of getting there a lot more interesting than the ending itself, it's impossible to deny that ending montage over Billy Joel's "She's Got a Way" as the show intercuts shots of the characters' past (1981) and present (2003) selves.

My issue is the killer's motive, which, despite being based on a real case, still seemed a bit too flimsy for the brutality of the crime. I was left saying to myself, "THAT'S why she had to die? Really?" It all seemed engineered for maximum soapiness -- or maybe it feels that way because we don't learn enough about the characters outside of the words "love triangle."

There are episodes of Cold Case that can give me the "feels" while also creating somewhat plausible scenarios -- this wasn't one of 'em.

Based on a true story

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was losely based on a true story so that is why I found it so tragic and interesting. Yes the motive behind the kill may seem unrealistic to us adults but we have to remember these are teenagers who think with their hormones not their heads.
