Corky has a crush on Marie Manelli but isn't sure she feels the same about him. Marie believes Corky is too young for her. Worse, the Manelli family is going to leave the circus and return to their California home where they have a vineyard.
When Corky and Marie go off for a picnic, Jo Jo the monkey comes along and has found a box of matches. The monkey starts a fire and frightens off the pony and pony cart the kids were in. Both Corky and Maries are trapped. But Joey and the Manelli brothers find the kids; but they need to set up a rope over a gorge so Pierre can walk across to save them. But Pierre pretends his ankle is twisted, Jean then has to overcome his fear of falling to save the children. Jean saves Marie, and Pierre saves Corky. The Manelli brothers decide to stay with the circus and perhaps Marie now sees Corky as brave also.
