Not to Be

Frasier and Diane bring a man who is a legend as a psychiatrist into the bar. Things go badly because of the sycophantic behavior of Frasier. At some point, Carla approaches the professor about some food on his tie in her usual abrasive style. He finds her immediately attractive and begins to court her. What transpires is really a lot of fun with an absurd twist at the end.

Whodunit? (#3.13)

Warning: Spoilers
Frasier and Diane spend some time with Frasier's psychiatry mentor. And after that he keeps on cancelling on them and Frasier is very worried. Turns out this guy has been dating Carla and he is in love with her, he even proposes to her. She i also pregnant now from him but she decides not to.

A pretty good episode even though the ending is stupid. There was no reason not to. This whole being in love with somebody she didn't meet yet only works with teenage characters.

But Frasier was great. All his worries about the spot on the guy's tie, obsessing why he keeps on cancelling and the scream he let out when seeing him kissing Carla were great. Just as Coach with "it is none of your business" story.

Not bad but not on par with the best

This is yet another retread, this time of Father Knows Last from Season One. Dr. Bennett Ludlow ("THE Bennet Ludlow?") is not as nerdy as Marshall, but he's still an odd match for Carla: a reserved intellectual in his 60s, he also happens to be Frasier's mentor and idol.

There's some funny bits (including a cute routine involving Carla, Sam, Coach, and the phrase "none of your damn business") and Carla has fun lording her relationship with Dr. Ludlow over the aghast Frasier and Diane. Also, Sam gets a moment where he gets to gloat over being right about Carla's romance with Dr. Ludlow. However, this is nothing special, and seems to be designed to write in Rhea Perlman's real life pregnancy.
