Carla's Obsession
Hitchcoc18 August 2019
Carla, as a child, went to a school for wayward girls. One night a woman sits down for a drink and it appears to be the cruel woman that Carla felt mistreated her at the school. So she pulls up a revenge motive from 20 years before. She even gets her fellow "inmates" involved. But the question is, "Is this really her?" It's a pretty good episode which is paired off against another phone call from Diane in the Alps with Frasier.

Meh

This isn't a bad episode, just a pointless one. Carla is convinced that the old lady who orders gin and grapefruit juice every night is actually the cruel principal from her old reform school. It's not exactly a mystery whether it's really her: the real question is how far will Carla go to get revenge.

Angry Carla is nothing new, and avenging old wrongs is a tired sitcom plot. Even the subplot (Cliff invents a Florida girlfriend) is dull. This is an episode that could have been redeemed by a few choice lines from Coach, but of course that's no longer possible. Finally, the ending is a precursor of the broad comedy that will plague the later seasons. This is just a placeholder to fill out the season.

The Belles of St. Clete's (#3.24)

Warning: Spoilers
Cliff is receiving letters from Florida which he says come from the woman he had a vacation romance with. Norm opens the letter and finds out its a lie but when the guys in the bar want him to read it he improvises a love letter. And Carla sees her old school principal in the bar. She wants to take revenge on her and shave her head but at the end they become friends.

Now this is the episode where I laughed a lot. The ending with the principal having half shaved head was hilarious. Also loved Norm's improvisation of the letter. And Diane made me laugh like never before with her losing her temper at Frasier.
