Very Pedestrian Effort

This is one of those "too much Sam and Diane" episodes. When Diane does something nice, getting him tickets to a big fight, he says he loves her (in that kind of casual way). Of course, she puts him through hell, forcing him to validate their relationship. I'd forgotten how many tiresome episodes are the result of her overbearing personality and insecurity.

How Do I Love Thee?... Let Me Call You Back (#2.10)

Warning: Spoilers
When Diane gets Sam some great tickets for a fight he wanted to go and see he throws an "i love you" to her without noticing, but she is excited. After he says it doesn't mean anything, she is all upset and they end up preparing the reasons for why they are together that they tell each other.

A pretty boring episode. I had trouble concentrating on that cheesy story and dialogue.

Diane was also horrible as drunk, lousy acting.

The only really funny part was the beginning scene when conning the con guy doesn't work out.

A quintessential Sam and Diane episode
dgplatt-601212 March 2024
This is Sam and Diane's relationship in a nutshell: Sam is all action (usually acting with his groin), while Diane overthinks everything. A stray "I Love You" sends Diane into a neurotic tizzy where she feels compelled to analyze their relationship in detail. Sam, understandably, is confused and bewildered. As with many S & D episodes, this ends up with a long confrontation between the two, this time in Sam's office.

There's not a lot else going on, but the regulars get in a few good lines (Coach's attempt to "pick a number" is classic Coach). But it's mostly yet another episode in the long arc between our two lovers, and it's a funny one.
