A Merciful End
seneuser23 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
For me, this episode is mostly known for putting an end to the Piper/Dan/Leo love triangle that was the one continuing subplot through the first half of Season 2.

It also moves the overall story ahead as we get to see another demon besides Barbas that actually looks and acts like most demons of future seasons- garbed in black and dwelling in a lair similar to the underworld. Litvack, unlike Barbas, also has powers similar to the demon's we'll see as he throws the first fireballs of the show. Litvack can track his query anywhere and uses something akin to the astral projection we've seen used by Rex.

So Bane is back, and though he is a decent actor and his chemistry with Prue is good, I found his entire subplot one of the most annoying of Season 2. The bad boy trope may be tried and true but Prue goes from hating Bane to sleeping with him in a snap of the fingers. Bane supposedly (I'm not so sure) saving Prue's life doesn't seem as heroic when you consider that the demon was after Bane and was surprised Prue was there.

The is another of many episodes where a sister allows her feelings for someone to override her judgement and the judgement of her sisters. Phoebe and Piper are right to not trust Bane. But again we see the trusting sister being right as Bane double-crosses Litvack in the end even though the entire final vanquish is incredibly flimsy. As if Bane would know that Piper would attempt to freeze Litvack or that Litvack would turn his back on Bane or that Piper would then unfreeze Bane. Stupid.

Phoebe, the sister spellcaster once again, casts a spell for signs to help Piper decide between Leo and Dan. Rather than being for laughs for once, it actually remains a mystery until Phoebe realizes that the signs can help them find Prue.

As it turns out, the only relevant sign was when the Angels beat the Mariners. Of course. The episode ends with Piper saying she didn't need any signs to know where her heart was at. We know that means Leo, and the love triangle is finally over.

The One With A Kidnapping...

Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode. Of course, I start all of my Charmed reviews that way. That is because Charmed is my all-time favourite and I believe it can do no wrong. I love this episode, although I don't love the Bane-Prue romance side of it.

In this episode, Bane Jessup is being transported from prison when two "guards" who are actually demons, try to kill him. He escapes and kidnaps Prue to try to get help. Meanwhile, Piper is trying to decide whether she wants to be with Dan or with Leo. Phoebe casts a "Give Me A Sign" spell; hence the title of the episode; to help her decide. Little did they know, the clues given by the spell actually end up leading them to their missing sister. Prue and Bane end up having a romantic entanglement which leads to some trust issues when Bane gets confronted by Litvack, an upper-level demon who doesn't like mortals who know about evil.

Fun fact: The Source is mentioned by name for the first time in this episode.

Fun fact: This episode is the first time a demon is referred to as "upper-level."

Fun fact: Piper and Phoebe don't know how to find Prue, yet they have learnt to Scry for a witch and don't think to do it.

Last appearance of: Bane Jessup.

Best part of this episode: When Piper and Phoebe figure out that the spell actually leads them to Prue, and they put all the clues together.

Worst part of this episode: Bane and Prue's relationship.

Evil beings: Litvack + A few lower-level demons/warlocks.

Overall, I give this movie a 9 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Amazing.

The One Where Prue Is Kidnapped...
taylorkingston25 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I really liked this episode. I didn't love the return of Bane, just because he annoys me. And I mean, how could Prue like him? He's a criminal, who tried to kill her a few weeks before. It doesn't make any sense to why she would sleep with him.

In this episode, Bane is in prison, is attacked by demons, but manages to escape. He then kidnaps Prue in the hopes that she'll help him. Eventually they sleep together, Bane sort of double crosses them, but turns out that he really is a good guy, well as good as a criminal can be. Meanwhile, Piper is trying to decide who she wants to be with: Dan or Leo. I vote Leo. Anyway, Phoebe casts a spell to help her sister decide, but it ends up leading them to where Prue was taken.

Fun fact: Phoebe, and Piper don't seem to remember that they can scry for a witch, and that they could just do that to find Prue.

Best part of this episode: Everything.

Worst part of this episode: Bane.

Evil beings: Litvack, and various demons.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Freaking Ridonkulous.

Signs with double meanings
thecharmedfreak26 December 2009
Bane Jessup returns and kidnaps Prue, leaving Piper and Phoebe worried sick. While Phoebe wants to help Piper decide between Dan and Leo by casting a spell, they also try to find their sister. Meanwhile Prue finds out that Bane is being hunted by a demon named Litvack and needs to save him from getting killed.

"Give Me A Sign" is one of the best season 2 episodes. Phoebe helping Piper choose between Dan and Leo, Prue getting kidnapped by Bane whose's being hunted by demons, is the perfect mix for a Charmed episode. The Prue and Bane romance was a great addition and should have continued.

My vote is 9!

Signs are everywhere

Warning: Spoilers
While I like Charmed experimenting I felt this was a little to heavy handed and cheesy. Phoebe castes a spell to help find Prue yet back fires leading to Piper choosing Leo over Dan. While I love Dan dearly it was pretty obvious that Leo & Piper would end up together without having to spell it out for us. Also Prue falling for the bad boy Bane is a common trope that I think this show is better then this.

One aspect that was appealing is Livack who sends the collectors after Bane for knowing so much about the demonic world. Yet it feels cheapened by the side story leaving it full of holes since a demon could flair in to kill him at any time or send a prisoner in to kill him instead of posing as body guards to take him outside for the job.

Misunderstanding Signs
claudio_carvalho9 March 2007
In the prison, Jessup Bane is attacked by two demons but he escapes, one of the demons is killed and the other loses his weapon. Meanwhile Piper is divided between her love for Leo and Dan, and Phoebe secretly casts a spell to get signs to help Piper in her choice. Jessup kidnaps Prue while he is chased by the powerful demon Litvack. Phoebe's spell helps Piper and her to find Prue, who is protecting Jessup against Litvack.

"Give me a Sign" is one of the worst episodes of "Charmed". The romance between Prue and the criminal Jessup Bane is terrible and senseless. The reaction of Piper to Litvack is awfully funny. My vote is five.

Not as good as Ms. Hellfire, but close enough.

Bane returns and his relationship with Prue followed its natural course. I really like this episode, the writing is more meticulous than usual, and Doherty and Sabato. Jr have a great chemistry. And their characters would've looked great together. Piper and Phoebe's sub-plot, has the main concern of the season evolve smoothly. And the big vilain of the show, as well as the infamous mausoleum, are finally introduced. It's a great filler, but a filler no less.
