Moving On
claudio_carvalho22 March 2007
While studying for the finals in the library, Phoebe meets Charlene, who is researching about demons for her thesis. When Charlene opens an encyclopedia about demons, she is decapitated by Libris. Later the ghost of Charlene contacts Phoebe and the Halliwell sisters decide to help her to vanquish Libris and move on. Meanwhile, Prue sees a man, Cleavant Wilson, every day on the bench of the bus stop trying to find a witness to testify against the killer of his beloved daughter Tyra and she decides to help him to move on in his life. Dan discloses that Leo was married, making Piper upset.

"Ex Libris" deals with moving on in life and death, and relationships between fathers and daughters. In the ghost story, Charlene wishes to prove her father how capable she is; Cleavant Wilson wants to show her daughter how much he loved her; and Piper expects that Phoebe and Prue sign a card for their father. In the end, most of the situations are resolved except the wounds between Prue and her father. The jealousy of Piper regarding Leo marriage in his previous life is silly and non-sense. My vote is seven.

Demons, witches and ghosts

Warning: Spoilers
Phoebe meets a college student named Sharon who finds proof physical proof demons exist and is killed before she can reveal the truth. Prue feeling sorry for a father mourning the death of his daughter and decided to help him catch her murderer. Ex Libris is a very slow episode, but I find It fascinating a while branch of demons are set up to stop exposure of magic I just wonder when do they decide to attack or was there only one since this is the only time their seen. I can't see the elders confining such a creature a job because they are demons and kill innocents.

The side story wraps nicely around the first as Prue gets Sharon's ghost to make the murderer confess he killed the girl and gives her father peace. Sharon loved yet fought with her dad and died before she could make peace thus allowing her spirit to move on with no regrets. It feels like the sisters are becoming stronger, their plans very creative helping innocents and living up to Melinda's prophecy about their coming.

The last episode that introduced me to the show.

Everything come full circle there. Piper's love triangle, Leo's loose ends, Phoebe's finals and Prue's « innocent » thirst for justice. The remaining of the season (with the exception of Astral Monkey, which brought back Dr. Curtis) isn't worth lingering over much, but the episodes are still decently entertaining and worth watching once at least. « Ex-Libris » isn't without its flaws, it shows signs of weakness, each time it gets sillier than it should've been (near the end especially) but it's a good one regardless, with an excellent premise and musical guest. Some band named The Goo Goo Dolls...
