AT LAST... we finally see widower Frank Cannon with a date! Unfortunately, his gal pal (played by model and actress Elaine Devry) has to wait while he helps a client. Devry may look familiar, married to Mickey Rooney at one time and appeared in many classic Warner Brother/ABC tv shows, either produced or directed by William Conrad. They make a nice couple, and Elaine should have returned for a second "date." Ya think?
Cannon spends more time with Leslie Charleson (best known for GENERAL HOSPITAL) who wants him find out who killed her father, supposedly falling from a ski lift. She really needs his help. This is where it gets tricky as there's a witness (played by Richard Hatch) --but he's got a wild posse on his tail. Hatch was always at his best playing a twenty-something in some sort of trouble. Raspy voiced good/bad guy Ken Lynch is also on board, never to be trusted. Cannon and Leslie make a solid team here.
Veteran director Norman Foster (CHARLIE CHAN) makes an appearance, playing Christopher. He was an old friend of Bill Conrad. Foster was vintage Hollywood, married to 1930s actress Sally Blane, and it would have been neat had she made a brief appearance too, but was long retired. Look for veteran actress Nora Marlowe (as Bertha) who would pop up in various episodes.
An especially beautifully filmed outdoor adventure.
This episode was shot at Colorado's sprawling San Juan National Forest, measuring nearly two million acres. It's based about 400 miles south of Denver. One of the few episodes produced outside California, and watch for the picturesque ending with a few surprises.... Ken Lynch is always fun.
