Never liked stella after this
dtj-7125131 December 2019
This episode really put me off the stella character. Before this she always came across as an arrogant know all. The way she was quite happy to kill the horse, a police horse at that, was terrible! I was glad when she left the show. The episode itself was quite good, apart from her attitude to a working police animal. That's why I give it 7 stars but I never watched this episode again

I hated Stella after watching this episode

I gave it 7 stars because it is one of the few episodes that got me emotionally involved with the characters.

I saw someone up here actually trying to defend Stella, but there's no valid argument to deny that she was completely uninterested in the well-being of the police horse throughout the entire episode. At first I also hated Mac after he said "humans take precedence" (that was disgusting), but after that, at least he showed some compassion by doing everything he could do delay the surgery (including having a fight with Stella) to increase the horse's chance of survival.

Stella knew there was a huge chance the horse would have to die just to get some evidence, and she still never showed any hesitation at all. She never stopped to consider whether getting that bullet is worth killing a horse, or at least show a little remorse/sadness about it. She just wanted to get it done as quickly as possible, as if she wanted that horse to die.

A lot of things she said made me angry, but the peak moment of her disgusting behavior was when she angrily shouted at Mac: "Getting the bullet out of the horse was the first thing you were supposed to do!". Seriously, what?! Could she be any more of a heartless monster? Not to mention after she found the weapon and said: "it's time to get the bullet out of the horse, Mac. End of conversation." Ugh! She was really looking forward to it. So cold.

Warning: Spoilers
So, quite an old episode but I'm making my way through the CSI franchise. Let's dig in. I disagree with the previous reviews. They said "removal would most likely be fatal to the horse". Most likely doesn't mean absolutely certain. No absolute was given. Stella was only trying to catch a cop killer on the loose, and I, in no way, saw her as being "quite happy to kill the horse". Mac also says humans take precedence in this case. Funny how that didn't matter or make it in previous reviews, huh? And in the end, the horse did make it so... I get not liking certain characters, but twisting the story to try and justify it... that's dumb. Maybe the other reviewers have an issue with women in a position of authority. It might be as simple as that.

Heartless woman

I love the other versions of CSI, but I am still trying to warm up to this one. The characters are not nearly as likable so far. And this episode turned me off of Stella completely. A police horse was shot. She didn't care what happened to him as long as she got her bullet to examine. Her "it's just an animal" attitude was disgusting. Blue was an officer shot in the line of duty. Yes, he was an equine officer rather than human, but she was completely willing to sacrifice his life without hesitation. CSI: Miami and CSI: Las Vegas are wonderful shows. I have been trying to watch this one, but it is not of the same quality so far. The technological aspect is great as always, but the characters are not as interesting or compassionate. Maybe it will get better. I hope so since I love the series.
