Slaughter Times Two
Hitchcoc2 February 2021
Two interesting cases. The first involves a young woman whose body is found on a highway. She has a new baby at home and a husband who has a roving eye. The second is about a man who has been demolished by a Kodiak bear, not indigenous to Nevada. In the former, there are some significant financial factors at work and some really deep investigating. Especially as it involves a Bentley. In the bear segment, we meet some really ugly people when it comes to game animals.

The Mother and The Hunter
claudio_carvalho17 January 2023
The Mother and The Hunter When the young mother Lori Kyman is reported missing by her husband, Grissom and Sofia meets with Capt. Brass on the highway where her car was found with flat tire. Sara and Capt. Brass go to Lori's house to interview her husband Mark, and they find her best friend Amy Maynard. Lori's stepmother Diane Hoyt arrives and confirms Mark's alibi. Soon Greg finds that the valve of the flat tire in Lori's car was unscrewed leaking the air, and he finds prints. Meanwhile, Catherine, Warrick and Nick investigate the deaths of the hunter Rod Hollis with claws around his neck and a Kodiak bear in the woods. However, the animal is not native from the area. In the autopsy, Dr. Robbins finds that bear was shot twice, by Hollis' rifle and by a Magnum .357 that was used in a robbery and belongs to Aaron Colite. A microchip in the bear shows that he belonged to Clark County Zoo and was bought by a broker.

"Unbearable" is another episode of "CSI" with two distinct cases. The case of the young mother Lori Kyman is well-resolved and explained in the end the reason why she was murdered. The case of the hunter and the bear found dead is a puzzle well-solved by the team. My vote is seven.

No sympathy for the hunter

Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, I said it. I'll also say the ultra rich are disgusting. The writers had it right when this was made and they're right now. Hunting for subsistence is one thing. Sport is another. That storyline though was a bit of an afterthought but it had me distracted anyway, since Jon Wellner comes back later as a regular. I guess everyone really liked working with him!

Speaking of the disgusting ultra rich, Sarah Foster is a terrible actor. Assuming her character had been played by someone with skill, the character came off immediately as unlikeable and a suspect. She certainly never seemed remotely sad her best friend had just died, or guilty for sleeping with her husband, or traumatized by accusations of violence. It all seemed like she was telling a lie. I kept waiting to find out how she was involved. Though Lolita Davidovitch had to be involved also, just because she was still so well known when this was made and I figured her character was after money through the grandson. I did not see the exact ending coming, which is always fun.

This show is an enjoyable exception to the rule that the most famous guest actor did it. Jane Lynch in the ranger uniform was definitely a highlight of the show. Obviously, Eric Stonestreet continues as a semi regular. But Jane made a great ranger.
