ZooDoo (the zoo animal fertilizer found in the wounds of the victim, is a real product, only it is from Auckland Zoo in New Zealand. Producers contacted the zoo to ask for a couple (empty) plastic bags to be sent to the States as it was far more cost effective than to design and print the few bags required for shooting.
Kennywood is an actual amusement park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Steel Phantom was a steel roller-coaster there, but has been modified and changed to Phantom's Revenge.
The Egyptian-themed amusement park in which the roller coaster flies off the tracks is actually Pharaoh's Lost Kingdom in Redlands, California.
The story concerns a roller coaster accident. At the end, Grissom mentions riding Son of Beast at Kings Island in Cincinnati. Following several accidents on the ride, park owners Cedar Fair closed Son of Beast and dismantled it.
