Unsatisfying Endings, But Better Than The First Week
ccthemovieman-128 February 2007
We see some handsome young movie actor with all his female admirers ogling him at several places, then a disturbed-looking Asian man getting out of a cab and obviously agitated. The next thing we know, all three have been shot. The latter two, we find out early, were shot by the same gun at the same time. A shotgun blasted the "fare" and one of the pellets caromed off an iron gate and struck the cab driver in the neck, killing him! But why was the man shot in the first place? The killer said he was shooting a "burglar" but there was nothing in his house to steal!

Meanwhile, how exactly and with what the young movie star was killed is puzzling the ME "Dr. Robbins" (Robert David Hall). The doctor sees no evidence, except for one mark on his neck, of how the man was asphyxiated, which seems to be the cause of death.

Not a bad episode, better than the opening week, but still a bit unsatisfying in the end on both murder cases.

Hard Ways to Die!
Hitchcoc5 February 2021
There are two deaths. Each on a different end of the financial spectrum. The high profile is the death of a handsome young actor who has about twenty women wherever he goes. Because of his celebrity, it is hard to get to the bottom of things. The second death is that of a Laotian man. He has been shot in the head. The kicker here is a cultural thing which impedes discovery of killer and motive.

Two Entwined Cases with Three Murders and the death of a Movie Star
claudio_carvalho25 January 2023
Grissom and Sara are investigating the death of a taxi driver with a shot in the neck and two shots on the passenger door, while Catherine and Capt. Brass are in the nearby crime scene of a dead Asian with six shots. After reading the taxi's dispatch log, Grissom realizes that the cases are entwined and he joins Catherine investigation. They arrest the shooter Keo Vipraxay in the hotel room, who confesses that he killed Samay Thao with a shotgun. Soon they find that the cartridge holds nine pellets, and the cab driver was accidentally hit by Keo. When Dr. Robbins shows the body of Noy Vipraxay, who died in a car collision, to Catherine, she concludes that the case is a triple homicide. Meanwhile, Greg, Nick, Warrick and Det. Sofia Curtis investigate the death of the raising movie star Julian Harper, who was found dead in his hotel room after a party and spending the night making sex with a blonde woman.

"Room Service" is an episode of "CSI" with two entwined cases with three murders and the death of a movie star. The case of the three Asians is more complicated since involves three victims at three different locations. He case of the movie star is easier but involves lots of investigation. My vote is seven.

One night in Vegas could be the last. In this case, this was probably the case for Julian Harper

I think the episode has a good balance between suspense, drama and humor. The actors deliver convincing performances, especially William Peterson as Gil Grissom stands out again with his charismatic manner and his appearance as a competent and experienced investigator.

The episode also shows again how intuitively and precisely the CSI team works together to solve the cases and how they deal with their personal problems at the same time.

Some criticisms I have of the episode are that it's a little too predictable in places, and that some of the supporting characters don't have enough depth.

For example, I found the spa owner a little too stereotypical and unlikeable. The same goes for Julian Harper, he is only interested in fame and money and has no talent or passion for music. He uses his fame and wealth to take advantage of other people. He has no respect or compassion for the feelings of his partners.

I would also have liked to know more about the actual background of the young suspect who is being defended by Grissom.

Overall, I think the episode is one of the better ones of the sixth season and will satisfy fans of CSI: Tracking Down the Culprits.
