CSI:Identity Crisis
Scarecrow-8814 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
A serial killer, Paul Millander(Matt O'Toole), has returned to challenge Grissom and kills certain victims whose birthdays follow a pattern. In descending order(August 17, 1958/August 17, 1957), is how Millander selects his victims and Grissom's birthday follows the psychopath's pattern(August 17, 1956). So it's safe to assume that Grissom must outwit Millander or else wind up in a white bathtub in some empty warehouse with a recording of his voice dictating his suicide to the local authorities. Millander stages each crime scene the same way as his father was murdered when he was a child. Single gun shot wound to the chest. A hair and fingerprint left by the vic. Every body left in a white bathtub. Each murder takes place the anniversary of Millander's father's death. A Clark County judge outside of Las Vegas fits an identical description to Millander and could very well be him! But it gets even more bizarre when Grissom and Catherine visit Paul's mother and discover that there was a daughter, "Pauline". Like many other episodes of CSI, there's a pretty creepy interrogation scene where Grissom shares the room with a killer and you can see the darkness behind the killer's eyes as he talks about his past. Then there's an escape and Grissom's eerie return to Paul's mother's house at the end which concludes the episode(she always keeps a place at the dinner table for Paul just in case he comes home; well, he does). The courtroom scene where Grissom is shocked at the sight of the judge's resemblance to Paul and Your Honor's finding him in contempt(not to mention, the jail visit)for wanting the man arrested are two moments which really highlight this creepy episode.

The Doppelganger

In a rainy night, a driver stops his car for a hitchhiker and offers a ride to him. Soon his body is found in Good Springs, shot in the stomach in a bathtub in a shed with a tape recorder. The CSI team realizes that Paul Millander is back, based on the M. O. They investigate several evidences and they decide to verify what the three victims have in common. They find that the victims had had speeding ticket issued by Officer Kevin Yarnell. Grissom and Catherine travel to Mulberry to meet Officer Yarnell that suggests them to go to court and see he case presided over by Judge Douglas Mason. Grissom immediately recognizes the judge as Paul Millander and is hold in contempt in court. Now the CSI team has to investigate the past of the judge and the serial-killer to open a case.

"Identity Crisis" is the last episode of "CSI" with the serial-killer Paul Millander. The portrait of the serial-killer is unbelievable in some moments, disappointing the storyline as a whole. My vote is seven.

Millander Returns
Hitchcoc8 January 2021
For the third episode, we again meet Paul Millander. He has haunted Grissom because his murder spree and convenient escapes are always a step ahed of Gil. Another body has been found in a bathtub and, of course, another audio tape. In pursuing the possible killer, he is led to a courtroom where it appears Millander is the presiding judge. This leads to several twists and turns and huge discovery. I really enjoyed the suspenseful portrayal of the villainous Millander and the sadness of his past. A top ten episode for me.
