A Heartbreaking Case
claudio_carvalho24 September 2022
During the dawn, the mother of the 4-month old baby, Zach Anderson, goes to breastfeed him and notes the baby missing, open window with a stair and a ransom note.in the cradle. Grissom and his team begin the investigation checking the Anderson family to separate evidences. But soon they find Zach dead in a nearby golf club. Their further investigation lead them a suspect that a family member killed Zach. But who?

"Gentle, Gentle" is an episode of "CSI" with a heartbreaking case of the death of baby. The screenplay is very well-written and the cover-up operation of the Anderson family is well explained. However, the traumatic consequences of the incident will certainly be carried out by the family for the rest of their lives. In the end, "Gentle, Gentle" is a very sad episode that might happen to anyone. My vote is nine.

Obvious Clue Missed
maineguy_0404331 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Why is it in this episode when the teenage son says he cut his finger when he broke a window in Zacs room and that he "Fixed It" before his parents found out. Why didn't CSI check for a cut finger? He had none. AND why didn't they check the window to see if had been replaced? And, what teenage boy Knows how to replace window glass? AND why didn't CSI check for Glass on the rug??

These were so obvious clues that should have been immediately checked out and would have answered so many question right off. How would that son even know where to buy glass? Or take the window sash out to get it fixed professionally? Where would he get the money from. Plus they were not even clear when this happened! The night the parents went out out the Neighbor watch meeting when they were gone only 30 minutes???

A Little Hard to Watch
Hitchcoc2 January 2021
This whole thing depends on some really convoluted writing. The inciting incident is the death of a baby and a serious cover-up. There are so many layers at work here and so many tenuous police activities that it's hard to believe it could happen this way. The result of the investigation is almost absurd. There is a scene by the pool that just wouldn't happen as a reporter shows up with incriminating pictures. Sometimes believability is strained.

So the cold open was a middle finger to us?
hnhnyc27 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've appreciated every episode of this season and this one really annoyed me as a writer. Without actually giving away spoilers, the entire cold open seems to only have been filmed to throw us, the viewer, off. Nobody else witnessed it and therefore none of it made sense. Who were the characters acting for besides the CBS cameras in hopes of throwing us off? Nope. Don't appreciate that at all. Should have had more respect for the viewers. We will pick up on these things.

How did they get through this episode without mentioning Lindbergh?
animeotakuwitch27 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode's parallels to the Lindbergh kidnapping are so blatant! The child of a wealthy public figure is abducted in the middle of the night with a note left behind, a ladder left behind leading to the child's window, the child found dead fairly close to the home, and even the episode's conclusion matching the theory that the baby was killed and the kidnapping staged to cover it up. With all of these similarities, I find it impossible to believe that not a single one of these seasoned law enforcement professionals would mention the Lindbergh case by way of comparison.

Also, the comment by another reviewer about the episode's opening scene is very true. Since we ultimately learn that the kidnapping was staged and the parents were fully aware of the child's death all along, opening with a scene of the parents supposedly learning their son is missing is the worst kind of deceit for a writer; presenting a scene that never happened as though it were fact just so the audience won't see through the plot. The writer would have done better to open on Grissom and whatever he was doing when he was called to the scene (which would have fit with the theme of the episode as this largely focused on Grissom, further developing the idea that cases involving child victims are very personal to him).

Single-most Worst Episode of Series
gardeniapalms14 April 2019
If this was the show the future of the series depended on, there is no doubt in my mind we wouldn't have been able to watch 15 seasons. .bot even 2.

At first I wasn't sure exactly what the problem was: bad writing?...bad direction?...ot over acting? Then I reslized... it was all 3! I am truly surprised CBS would let this slip through and air. Probably the worst offender was the character "Grissom".: only he can take the pictures of the corpse...only he can move the body to be taken to the M E.s office...only he can step in and protect the mother from the throngs of reporters as she is being escorted into the building but yet during an interrogation by a pool he let's a reporter saunter up and show the husband some photos and not say s word even when the father gives his statement and we watch the rrootter go around the pool over to where the mother is whocwpparently had no comment then we watch the reporter saunter off.

We witnessed people getting angry without justification and evidence that made no sense at all nor moved the story forward.

I'm glad the powers-that-be saw past this episode and saw the potential for what the series could becone or we would never had seen what it did become nor "CSI: NY".
