This episode could be straight out of real life. While playing football on a vacant lot the boys discover a wallet with over one thousand dollars inside. That may not sound like a lot of money, but in today's values it would be over seven thousand dollars! So it's a big haul by 1970 standards.
Naturally, the boys are thrilled. They get to split the money three ways! But wait a minute. Aren't there three girls in the family also? You bet there are. And they want their share. And they want it now. And if any man/boy gets in their way then there will be heck to pay. And sisters always know how to hit you right where it hurts the most.
So this causes rifts in the family and the parents notice what's happening and try to get the money back to the owner by turning it over to the police. Because.....it's the right thing to do.
SPOILER ALERT:
The police find the original owner and it turns out to be a man traveling with his wife on a trip they've been saving up for for years. He's happy to get his money back and wants to give them $100 for a reward. But Dad - the party pooper - says that it's too much money. Then the man offers $50. And the old party pooper Dad says it's still too much. When the man offers $20 the party pooper agrees. Gee, thanks for being so much help Dad. Why didn't you go golfing today or something!
It's a cute little episode. BTW, I lost my wallet once in real life and even though it had my identification in it nobody returned it. They stole it instead. Well, you can't win them all.
