This is an important episode and although a lot of the focus was on the Corpanga issues I think the stuff when Shawn was drunk and Jack's revelations about what Chet was like when he drank were definitely important to the brotherly relationship they have going forward and it actually makes sense that Chet has some serious issues if you look back at everything he's done to Shawn, while he was never physically abusive to Shawn there was definitely emotional abuse along with the neglect. I also think putting the alcoholism thing in there gives more vulnerability to Shawn b/c that means that he has to be more careful about the way he chooses to deal with things. We only really see Shawn drunk here and in Family Trees and both are different moments of extreme vulnerability although in Family Trees as drunk as he gets his anger is more self -directed than anything else

God, I didn't see that coming, Shawn falling to alcohol because of Cory and his brilliant idea of drown his sorrow on alcohol and to not feel alone, makes his buddy of soul drink with him. I hate drunk people more than anything else in the world so definitely it was tough for me to watch him fall on this junk, mostly him. And it opens a new perspective of his father which explains a lot of things : Chet was an abusive alcoholic that's why Jack's mom left him and probably Shawn's mum too. It does make more sense about his way he has treating Shawn his entire life to be honest. Not that he has ever been physically abusive to him but that explains a lot of his actions and reactions towards him as the way he was totally disconnected about his son life and the responsibilities he had towards him, it totally makes sense know and reaches a higher level to his relationship with Jack. Anyway, I hoped it would be the last one we saw him in that state but I have some doubts of it. But I have to say that the realization spreading all over his face after having shoved Angela against the door and realized that it was indeed getting out of control was intense as hell as much because of him than because of her. The fact he got into sense because of her is also quite relevant of how important she really became in his life in so little time. Their reconcilation melted me inside and his unbearable need to apologize over and again to everybody who got affected on this was incredibly touching. After the brilliant Halloween episode, we had a darker one but still as brilliant and once again thanks to Rider Strong acting, he is really stunning as an actor.

Warning: Spoilers
The Corey and topanga aftermath continues but the parts where Corey drinks whiskey 🥃 was unexpected but alot of the issues raised in this episode was pretty dam perfect I know in the 90s every show had to do at least one drug or alcohol awareness episode but this one stands out in a good way when it switches direction to shawn and dives into the real reason why jack and his mom left chet was amazingly acted and shawn realising his behaviour was out of order after pushing Angela was so realistic Alan and Amy's reaction to Corey and shawn drinking was well acted very realistic definitely a episode that should be shown to people with these issues if your curious go watch this show this episode doesn't disappoint.

Just nonsense

It's always weird seeing how American tv treats teenage drinking.

There really isn't anything crazy about it. And they always have to act like one drink and you're hooked.

Shame they made this one of episode about the dangers of drinking. It's actually quite irresponsible to portray alcohol as a demon drug that hooks you just by looking at it.
