Eddie refers Ted the pawnbroker as Harry The Bastard. A nod to "The Young Ones" Nasty (#2.3) Rik and Ade's earlier sitcom, which Vyvyan and Mike rented a video player from Harry the Bastard, manager of the Rumbellows electrical goods store video so they can watch video nasties, which they owe him $500, if they don't return the video player.
Brian Croucher (Ted Nugent) appeared in Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson's earlier sitcoms "The Young Ones" and "Filthy, Rich and Catflap". As a bank robber in "The Young Ones" Sick (#2.5) and Summer Holiday(#2.6) and as the Landlord in "Filthy, Rich and Catflap" (#1.4).
Robert Llewellyn's character is named after the late English footballer and manager, Norbert Peter 'Nobby' Stiles.
