Coming Down Your Chimney & Stuffing Your Stocking

Santa Claus is a Transvestite? As unlikely as it seems, at this point in season 1 the series has hit enough of a stride that this comes off pretty well. David E Kelley's character development progresses quite well already as the relationships between the characters are carrying the show.

This is Al Sharpton's second cameo role and while it is telegraphed this time instead of the surprise the first one was, it is every bit as effective as the first one. Now Sharpton has addressed the civil rights of Santa Claus and Orphan Annie. This is what makes the series entertaining.

The hallmark of this series is that comedy and drama are mixed well. This show is the grown up version of Ally Mcbeal as the character development here is better than the previous series was. It is sad that this series will be ending soon, but I am so glad the dvds are out there as it is the best way to watch this series.

When I watch this with a teenager, it stimulates discussion of the issues being dealt with. That is one of the marks of a good series too.

Will There Be Followup

The whole case with the gay Santa Claus is pure fluff. Yes it's an issue. It's just not all that interesting. The other case of the therapist who betrayed privilege led to a serious situation. What is interesting to me is whether there will be any ramifications or is this one of those things where all is forgotten when the episode ends. The whole thing with the elf contest wasn't even funny. I would have liked it if the judge wasn't taken in by all the shenanigans and Shore ended up in the suit.
