The thing that irritated me was the constant push on this episode that Denny was the primary person who was wrong.
Homeless person spoke relatively quietly and got ignored as Denny and Alan walked past. So he then got pissed off and picked up a big rock and threw it overhand and hit Denny in the back of the head. This was not a small pebble thrown "near him" as was said later in the episode. In reality that rock would have caused a significant head injury and bleeding. That was assault! And assault against a senior citizen (Denny was in his 70's).
Should Denny have shot him with a paintball, probably not, especially near his eyes. However, Denny's actions are way closer to self defense than Denny being the aggressor.
However the whole tone of the show was how Denny was the bad person and how this other guy deserved $75-$100K for Danny shooting him. IMO there would be zero chance that Denny would be spending 5 years in jail would this had been reality.
